firing your pottery:
Please be aware that very occasionally clay items can break, or at worse explode, in the kiln. We try to control for these events but it is not always possible. Sometimes your pottery may not look exactly as it did when you did the throwing session. We rely on our customers understanding that this is not always an exact science but we will always do our best. It is the charm but also the frustration of working with ceramics, so we encourage you to embrace any wobbles or small imperfections in your pot/s. We cannot offer refunds for this but will offer you something of ours as a replacement if your piece is no longer fit to function.
HOW IT
WORKS
Step 1.
Our tutor will do a demonstration on the wheel, talking your child through the steps of throwing a pot or small bowl.
Step 2.
They’ll then all take to the wheel, as step-by-step, they work the clay to make their own piece. Remind them, as it’s their first time on the wheel, what they make won’t be perfect, but it will be one-of-a-kind!
Step 3.
We’ll remove their piece from the wheel and place it on a board to dry with their name on a slip which will be carved into the base.
Step 4.
Leave it with us to fire. Option 1 will be ready 4 weeks later. Option 2 and 3 they can return after 3 weeks to paint their piece. Just visiting? We can post their items to them for an extra fee at your own risk.
